Galatians 2:1-10

The early church was at a crucial juncture. Due to the missionary outreach of people like Paul and Barnabas to the Gentiles, the question arose, “Do you have to become a Jew before you can become a Christian?”

In Galatians 2:1-10 we discover the answer to that question. These verses should be read alongside Acts 15 that records the historical account. Our passage today gives Paul’s personal account — it is as if we are reading his diary or journal. In both accounts we read that grace triumphs! There are three circumstances in which we discover the triumph of grace.

  • Grace triumphs when it is declared vv. 1-3.
  • Grace triumphs when it is vv. defended 4-5.
  • Grace triumphs when it is vv. demonstrated 6-10.

We have as one of our core values "an atmosphere of grace" because in the end, grace triumphs!
