Galatians 3:6-14

The evil one is given two enlightening descriptions in the Bible. 1 Peter 5:8 he is called “a roaring lion.” In 2 Corinthians 11:14 he is given a far more insidious and devious description—”an angel of light.” The book of Galatians was written to believers who were unwittingly succumbing to that second form of Satanic attack. In Galatians 3:1-5, Paul asked a series of questions to remind them of their Christian experience. In this next passage he turned to the Scriptures to demonstrate that salvation, past and present, has always been by faith. Four brilliant propositions make up Paul’s Scripture argument.

How Abraham was saved, vv. 6-7.

How the Gentiles are saved, vv. 8-9.

How the Law does not save, vv. 10-12.

How Christ does save, vv. 13-14.

God’s way of salvation has always been the same—by faith.
