Daniel 5

We live in a culture that, for the most part, holds God and the things of God in contempt. Fortunately for us, we live in an area of the country where there is still a remnant of respect for God. This is a post-Christian era in our country. That should not cause us to wring our hands and cry, “Woe is me!” The more people descend into darkness, the brighter our light will shine!

Daniel chapter five is a case study for our age. We will discover Belshazzar’s utter contempt for God, God’s response, and Daniel’s life and witness to the culture of his age.

• The party’s contempt of God, vv. 1-4.
• The party crashed by God, vv. 5-9.
• The prophet called for God, vv. 10-31.

Conclusion: We must honor God even when others don’t.
