James 2:14-26

James chapter two emphasizes living out one’s faith. In verses 1-13 we are told to live out our faith without partiality (see especially verse 1). In today’s passage, the connection between belief (faith) and behavior (works) is made. Once again as Howard Hendricks said, “To know and not to do is really not to know at all.”

James draws the distinction in this passage between a dead faith and a dynamic faith.

Explanation of dead faith, vv. 14-20.
Examples of dynamic faith, vv. 21-26.
