Luke 2:1-7

Israel had long since fallen from its glory days under David and Solomon. Israel was occupied by a foreign power, heavily taxed, and ruled by a murderous, maniacal puppet king named Herod.

We have learned from Mary how to “face the unexpected.” From Joseph, we learned how to “face the unsettling.” Today we will discover from both Mary and Joseph how to “face the unwelcome.”

When unwelcome news or situations come your way, you have an opportunity to trust that God is working.

When you face unwelcome news, trust that God is working to get you where you need to be.

When you face unwelcome news, trust that God is working to use you to point others to Jesus.

Unwelcome news and unwelcome situations happen to all of us. Rather than complain, look at these things as an opportunity to see God at work.
