Galatians 6:11-18

As the Apostle Paul concluded his letter to the Galatians, he pointed out the importance of what he wrote. “SEE WITH WHAT LARGE LETTERS I AM WRITING TO YOU WITH MY OWN HAND” (v. 11). That gets your attention, doesn’t it? Some believe this verse refers to the entire book of Galatians. Paul typically used a secretary to write what he said (for example, Romans 16:22). They suggest that if Paul wrote the entire letter in his own handwriting that would be an indication of the importance and urgency of the contents. Others believe Paul was referring to the last section (chapter 6:11-18). 2 Thessalonians 3:17 communicates that was Paul’s usual practice. Either way the importance of Galatians is shown! Paul’s usual closing was two or three verses. Here it is eight! He reiterates the key points of his letter by pointing out marked men.

  • The legalists are marked men, vv. 12-13.
  • The Lord Jesus is a marked man, vv. 14-16.
  • The apostle himself is a marked man, vv. 17-18.

The message of Galatians? Grace is the way to life and the way of life.
