1 Corinthians 11:17-22

Why do you go to church?

  • Worship
  • Fellowship
  • Instruction
  • Opportunity to serve

For these reasons, and perhaps several others, our gathering together should be for the better. "How can it be otherwise?" you may ask.

In today's passage, the Apostle Paul wrote to a group of people whose meeting did them more harm than good (v. 17). These Christians would have been spiritually better off if they had stayed home from church!

There were two glaring flaws in this church which caused their meeting together to not be for the better, but rather for worse.

1. They had a lack of unity, vv. 18-19

2. They had a lack of charity, vv. 20-22

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 11:17-22

1 Corinthians 1:11-12

1 Corinthians 3:3-4

Matthew 5:9

Bottom line? You get out of church what you bring into it.
