Doers of the Word: Control Their Tongues

There is a part of our anatomy whose power far exceeds its size. We are talking about the tongue. The gift of speech is one of God’s greatest blessings to mankind. Just think of the influence the words of Jesus has had over the centuries. However, wrongly used, speech can do immeasurable harm. It is estimated that for every word in Adolf Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, 125 people lost their lives in WWII. Proverbs 18:21 states the truth in saying, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” 
 
In today’s passage, James explores the astonishing power of the tongue relative to its size.
