God’s gift of love to the world became the gift of life. This month we have looked into the book of 1 John to see four reasons Jesus “appeared.”
- 1 John 1:1-4 — Jesus appeared to reveal eternal life.
- 1 John 3:4-6 — Jesus appeared to take away our sins.
- 1 John 3:7-9 — Jesus appeared to destroy the devil’s works.
Today, in 1 John 4:7-12, we discover that Jesus appeared to show God’s love. There are three implications to this manifestation of God’s love in Jesus.
- Implication #1 — Love is what God is to us, vv. 7-8.
- Implication #2 — Love is what God does for us, vv. 9-10.
- Implication #3 — Love is what God wants from us, vv. 11-12.
