Acts 10:23-48

Jesus came to earth on a mission. The mission was articulated clearly by Jesus in Luke 19:10 — “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” After His death and resurrection, Jesus assigned the continuance of His mission to His followers. The mission continued to the Jews in Acts 2-7, the Samaritans in Acts 8, and the Gentiles in Acts 10. In opening the door of faith to the Gentiles, God gave two visions so both the hearers (Cornelius) and the preacher (Peter) would see salvation clearly (Acts 10:1-22). Now all that is needed is to share salvation clearly. In today’s passage, we discover three components that make the gospel plain.

The platform for the gospel, vv. 23-33.

The proclamation of the gospel, vv. 34-43.

The power of the gospel, vv. 44-48.

“Good people don’t go to heaven; forgiven people do.”
