Christmas is the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but His coming to earth was more than a manger. In the book of 1 John, the beloved disciple speaks of Jesus’ coming into the world as appearing or being manifest (same Greek word). The reasons for Jesus’ appearance are given in four contexts in 1 John. Today, we will discover the first reason Jesus appeared: He appeared to display eternal life.
